The public areas and guestrooms of the Dorint Hotel An den Westfalenhallen have recently completed renovation. Michael Demmerle managed the complete refurbishment operations, since his appointment as Hotel Director in April 2018.
Built in 1995, the hotel building, located directly on the Rheinlanddamm, has been operating since June 2017 as the Dorint Hotel An den Westfalenhallen Dortmund. Planning for the extensive renovation work began shortly after takeover from the Dorint group, and has provided the Dortmund hotel with a rejuvenated look.
“In the past months we have completely redesigned the hotel and are now proud to present it to our guests”,
says new Hotel Director Michael Demmerle.
“We did all of the work while the hotel was running and even hosted a big event during the renovation.”
Upon entering, guests are now able to experience the new ‘personality’ of the Dorint Hotel, which is reflected in the modern design of the new lobby and reception. The in-house “Davidis” restaurant and the “Overbeck” bar have also been redesigned and equipped with new chairs, armchairs, new flooring as well as a new colour scheme. In addition, all drinks at the “Overbeck” are now served on a brand-new counter.
All of the 221 guestrooms and suites have been equally redecorated. In total, as much as 1,000 liters of paint have been applied to the hotel’s walls, both in the public and in the private spaces; 432 new beds were assembled and fitted; over 1,300 new desks, lamps and mirror lights have been installed; and around 300 new pictures, in both the guestrooms and in hallways, now complete the hotel’s atmosphere.
Technology wise, state-of-the-art TVs, an updated Wi-Fi network and new door locking systems have been put into place.
